Hehe, don’t mind me. I’m a little weird in the head lately. Anyway, in celebration of the worldwide women’s celebration for March, the UP Film Institute is hosting the 17th International Women’s Film Festival. This year’s theme is “Women Refigured—Making Choices, Creating Changes, Crossing Boundaries.”
The film fest is slated from March 5 Monday to March 8 Thursday at the Cine Adarna (UP Film Center). Take note that ADMISSION IS FREE! Here are the details:
I got this through e-mail from the U.P. Film Institute. If you want to watch something fresh and different, why not check this out?
Communication Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran will have
It’s annual Pelikuletran where it showcases talents of Senior
Communication Arts students in making short films.
Six short films will be shown on February 26-March 01 at LETRAN GROUNDS, MURALLA ST., INTRAMUROS, MANILA
For movie buffs with a fifty-peso budget such as I, nothing beats Cine Adarna of the UP Film Institute located in the Diliman Campus of the University of the Philippines.
Cine Adarna may not show the latest wide screen offerings, but they do hold local and international film festivals (Cinemalaya and Eigasai among many others), advance screenings of Pinoy indie films (screams, “Papa Ping!“), uncut versions of popular movies (uy, sex na ba? sex na ba? ayan, sex na!), and foreign art house favorites (Voulez vous coucher avec moi?).
Pretty neat, huh? Well, enough about that. Here is Cine Adarna’s Feb sked:
I wish I was born a few years older so I could have been high school batch mates with R.A. Rivera! Alas, the best I could do was be batch mates with his younger sister. Anyway, I so love this young talented director’s take on pinoy pop culture. Case in point? Watch this:
Guess what? My favorite Dancel brother, Kuya Vin has a new band! The front man of the now defunct (and to my opinion under-appreciated) Twisted Halo, Vin Dancel (also of Admit One Productions) re-emerges in the Pinoy rock scene with his new band, Peryodiko. Here is the group’s gig lineup for February.
Feb 2 – Big Sky Mind
Feb 17 – Admit One at saGuijo
Feb 23 – Rock Ed Bicol Benefit at the Ateneo
Feb 27 – saGuijo Play4Serve
We've done some house cleaning and unfortunately, we broke some links to out Photobucket-hosted images. (FAIL!) We're sorry for that so just check our Photobucket album for those missing images.
