NHL 2K10

EA Sports has hit some pretty awful ruts in their games (probably with the exception of NHL and FIFA titles). Any decent gamer would go for the 2K titles. The level of realism and fluidity and accuracy of the animation in the 2K titles are just awesome.

Now with the new sports season coming in a few months, you might be asking what improvements can these sports games will offer. Take hockey for example. Will the game eventually feature some of those amazing stuff that players are doing in real life. Stuff like Alex Ovechkin’s goal scoring while flat on his back. Well, NHL 2K10 is teasing that feature in this game teaser trailer.

It would be interesting to see this actually found in the game play.

With Fallout 3 tapping into the nostalgia of PC gamers from the late 90s/ early 2000s and introducing new gamers to the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout, Bethesda seems to be really milking it. And why not? Fallout 3 took years in the making and was put on hold for quite a number of times. Heck. It even saw the demise of original publisher Interplay and Black Isle Studios.

Anyway, this here’s Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta. It is the fifth and final add-on to be made available for Fallout 3 (with the previous four being: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, and Point Lookout). It’s will be made available for the Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

In a nutshell, the add-on would have our hero abducted to an alien mothership filled with pissed off aliens. And this won’t just be any walk in the park or blast-everything-in-sight add-on either. The game will feature non-linear question lines and force the player to do some exploration. Anyway, if you still don’t think aliens and Fallout don’t mix, here’s the trailer:

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem (among other classic PC games) will go down in my personal history as one of the first gaming addictions I had. That was fifteen freaking years ago with my old 386 computer. Then Duke Nukem 3D came out and became a must-play for hormonally-raging adolescent due to pixelated flaming titties – a real upside compared to the old Doom titles.

Kudos to 3D Realms for that (and for developing the shareware concept and FPS granddaddy Wolfenstein 3D). News has been around that the company is developing a Duke Nukem follow-up dubbed Duke Nukem forever. But all dreams of that coming out dies as 3D Realms calls it quits.

Lack of funds has been cited as the reason behind the pulled-plug. But talk about slug-paced software development for this one. Duke Nukem Forever had been in development for 12 years and has earned the ridicule of the whole industry. Publisher Take-Two Interactive will remain to have publishing rights but there seems to be no hint of the game ever making it out.

It would’ve been nice if Duke Nukem Forever had been 3D Realms’ last hurrah. Too bad they made a total hash of things.

For a World War 2 nut, the WWII game sub-genre is never too saturated especially when follow-ups or expansions to classics get released. This week, gamers can anticipate the release of a standalone expansion pack to a WWII-themed RTS game classic in Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Relic and THQ’s initial masterpiece goes down in history as one of the best RTSes and WWII-themed games ever. We can only expect more of the same (and some new stuff) with this installment.

Tales of Valor includes three new single player campaigns, three new multi-player modes, new units and maps, and a new nifty direct-fire feature where players can now enjoy improved point-and-fire gameplay. In addition, the game also adds an “Invasion” mode where players can try to weather an invasion by overcoming attack waves with only a handful of units.
