Sherlock Holmes movie trailers

By Alex on July 22, 2009

For those who have watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince might have been treated to another visual treat in the form of the Sherlock Holmes movie trailer. I haven’t watched HP 6 so I’m just content to have watched them online.

Fans of Robert Downey Jr, would think that this is a really good casting decision. I fear, though, that he has lent much of himself to the character. Looking at the trailers, Holmes does echo Tony Stark in a lot of ways. Not that it’s something bad as far as my personal taste goes but there might be something bad in too much RDJ. I always envisioned Holmes to have a more Dr. House-esque air about him. I might not be a fan of Jude Law but his bad-ass portrayal of Watson might be a nice surprise as well. Anyway, here are a couple of trailers courtesy of the YouTube gods.

Still, it’s something that I look forward to watching this year.

Sherlock Holmes Poster

I have to give it to Guy Ritchie. His envisioning of Victorian England is just wicked. I think that if these posters are any hint of how visually impressive the film is, then I’m sure the Sherlock Holmes movie will be a treat.

I do like the cast as well with Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes. It’d be interesting to see how he creates his own characterization of the super sleuth. Jude Law as Watson somehow violates my image of Watson as a stocky fellow reading the abridged classics as a kid. I really don’t like Jude Law as an actor but we’ll see how he did with Guy Ritchie at the helm. Mark Strong (who I’m familiar with as Archy in Ritchie’s RocknRolla) is Holmes’ nemesis Lord Blackwood. Rachel McAdams also appears as Irene Adler.

The drumbanging has started even during filming but the film’s set for a December release. Can’t wait?
