No Unimaginative Puns Here

707 International NANA Day Philippines

Just woke up and I’m not in the mood to start off our mini-write up on International NANA day Philippines with an unimaginative pun like “We had a BLAST!“. -_-

Seriously though, we really had a great time last night. The venue was nice and the bands really rocked the house with both punk rock (for Black Stones) and pop rock (for Trapnest).

Sourei
Sourei

Sourei kicked off the event at exactly 7:07pm with rose by ANNA inspi’ NANA (NANA 1st OP). I’m not sure about the second song (Shuraba by Tokyo Jihen?) but their third song was Music Fighter by Judy and Mary. This was followed by Tokyo Jihen‘s Omatsuri Sawagi. Their final song was Kuroi Namida by ANNA inspi’ NANA (NANA 3rd ed).

X versus Zero
X versus Zero

X versus Zero performed Blood and Isolation, both by Nana starring Mika Nakashima. They then performed an original composition, Vibe. After that, their bassist provided the vocals for Face from the BECK anime soundtrack (technically Typhoon24 featuring Kazuya Hirabayashi). Their last song was a rock cover of Faye Wong‘s Eyes on Me.

Progeny
Konbanwa. BURASUTO desu…. joke!
Progeny

Progeny performed Hitoiro ALTAnative edit by Nana starring Mika Nakashima (NANA 2 movie theme). They followed it up with memories by Maki Otsuki (One Piece ED) and Kesenai Tsumi by Nana Kitade (FMA ED). Their last song was Lucy by ANNA inspi’ NANA (anime 3rd OP).

3DayTrial
3DayTrial

3DayTrial performed Glamorous Sky by Nana starring Mika Nakashima (NANA movie theme), a little pain by OLIVIA insipi’ REIRA (NANA ED), It’s Gonna Rain by Bonnie Pink (Rurouni Kenshin 3rd ED), and Endless Story by Reira starring Yuna Ito (NANA movie insert song).

NEOtaku
Konbanwa. NEOtaku desu.
NEOtaku

NEOtaku performed Do You Want To by Franz Ferdinand (Paradise Kiss ED), Tonight, Tonight, Tonight by Beat Crusaders (Bleach 4th OP), and an original composition Love Master. Their song for NANA day is Anarchy in the UK by Sex Pistols.

Rtschrck
Rtschrck

My notes on Rtschrck are kinda unclear. All I’m sure is that they did a soundcheck then performed Red…[em] and Umbrella by Dir en Grey before performing their NANA day song Stay Away by Abingdon Boys School (for Blackstones) from the Love for Nana ~Only1 Tribute~ album.

Ducklings
Ducklings

Ducklings performed Smile (I didn’t hear where it came from) before performing their NANA day song, God Save the Queen by Sex Pistols. They followed it up with three original compositions, though I only got the name of the second, Kawawa Naman Ako.

Armada
Armada

Armada‘s soundcheck was Unchained Melody by Righteous Brothers and they started their performance with Reverse by Tetsu69 (for Trapnest) from the Love for Nana ~Only1 Tribute~ album. After that, they covered I Started a Joke by the Bee Gees and Don’t Speak by No Doubt. Their final song was an original composition, Pedro.

This Side Up
This Side Up

This Side Up began with Recorded Butterflies by OLIVIA inspi’ REIRA. They then performed Roman ~My Dear Boy~ by Morning Musume, Journey by Reira starring Yuna Ito, and Crazy About You by Mini Moni. Their final song was Wish by OLIVIA inspi’ REIRA (Nana 2nd OP).

By this time I was already getting dizzy from not having anything to eat or drink for hours. After the waiters forgot our request for a menu twice, I gave up.

Do 'Ahou
Do 'Ahou

Do ‘Ahou performed Black Crow by Sex Machineguns (for Blackstones) from the Love for Nana ~Only1 Tribute~ album. They then performed a Ramones song and two Blink 182 songs. My notes are kinda fuzzy here but Flori might be able to fill in on their titles. Their bassist Marlon sang My Way for his last song in the band.

PPF All-Stars
Magandang umaga. Kami ang PPF All-Stars.
PPF All-Stars

The last band for the night, PPF All-Stars started with a Bump of Chicken song (Karma?). Then they switched to their new vocalist and performed Termination by TË?RA (GUITARFREAKS 11th MIX & drummania 10th MIX), an original composition named Brand New Day, and Truth by Reira starring Yuna Ito (NANA 2 movie ED). The final song for the night was Vista by Going Under Ground.

As for the rest of the event, there was the usual raffling off of stuff like posters and Ai Yazawa manga. For some odd reason, most of the raffle tickets picked were from people who aren’t inside the venue.

cosplayers
group cosplayers

There was also a cosplay contest, but I guess most of the cosplayers were either dressed up for kicks or were for the international competition so there were less cosplayers on stage.

fanart winners
fanvid winner

The winners for the fanart and fan video competition were also announced.

On the downside, there were also some technical difficulties ranging from a loose connection to an amplifier and videos not playing properly. Nothing really show-stopping, though.

SEVEN Pilipinas

That’s all for my part. Maybe Flori can add some stuff later. Congratulations to SEVEN Pilipinas for holding a sold-out event!

Sushi Boi is the sugoi power behind the scenes. Do not mess with him or face his wrath. But he is really really nice, promise.
