You don’t have to be a full J-culture enthusiast to know X Japan since their music has been featured in countless anime titles. Well, you can also regard them as one of the long-enduring J-rock groups having been around since 1982. (Sure, they took a 10-year hiatus but they’re back.)
Rumors were abound that their bassist, Heath, has left the band but the band’s management claims that these rumors were unfounded. It is true, however, that Heath has proposed his departure but nothing has been approved.
The band’s Tokyo Dome concerts on May 2 and 3 next month will push through.

I will never ever forget this song. This was the opening theme for Kids’ War, the first Japanese daytime drama that I ever got addicted to. It also got me acquainted with Inoue Mao, who was one of the stars of the show. Anyway the song is by Zone. Too bad they’ve disbanded.

After ten years and one of the most legendary J rock bands, X JAPAN, finally publicly reunited. They gathered Monday on the rooftop of Odaiba’s Aqua City to film the PV for their new song, “I.V.,” which will be featured in the movie “Saw IV.”
Fans should be happy to know that the band might have a single concert in Tokyo next year.
More in Japanese here.

It’s not enough that L’Arc~en~Ciel has just kicked off their 2007 tour, these guys who made me listen to J rock has also announced that starting August, they will be releasing one sugoi stuff every month for 5 months!!! According to Sports Hochi, this will start with the band’s new single, “My Heart Draws a Dream” on August 29 which will be followed by the DVD of their 2006 Tokyo Dome performance.
Talk about L’arc overload!
Toshi, ex-vocalist of famed, legendary (insert fangirly adjective here) band X-Japan wrote an entry in his blog last March 21, about meeting with an “old friend in Los Angeles”, which led to a “new project [that] is about to start soon.” In the JRock fandom, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out who he was referring to: Yoshiki Hayashi. X-Japan’s founder, leader, drummer and pianist. (read: rock icon.)

It’s been around for a little more than 20 years but it’d be only now that we’d get some of their sugoi stuff. MUSIC STATION is Japan’s most popular music variety show and it’s debuting for our viewing on Animax. It’s pretty much like TRL, J-style!
The show features everything about the J-pop scene complete with interviews, live performances and charts. Tune in to chance upon live performances from renowned J-artists like “no-namers” (harhar) like L’Arc~en~Ciel, SMAP, B’z, Ayumi Hamasaki, and more.
It airs on March 9, Friday, 7 PM at Animax.
