British actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost – best known for comedies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz – may play bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson in Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s Tintin films. Source: Dominion Post
Before I continue, let me first say: OHMIGOSH!!!
Growing up with the Tintin books by Belgian artist Hergé, hearing news of it being turned into a movie by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson gave me a geekgasm.
So hearing this news that the possibility of having two of my favorite British actors star in this movie, I am completely breathless! And I know fellow fans, Alex and Flori would like another movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in it.
Sure, the Thomson and Thompson characters are supposedly detectives that look so much alike, but since the movie will be in 3D, all they will be lending in the movie are their voices and chemistry which by their own right is good as it is.
What? You haven’t read The Adventures of Tintin? Blasphemy! Okay, so you have at least watched Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz (where Simon Pegg and Nick Frost star), right? What?! No? Have you been living under a rock all this time?
Let me show you a peak of what you’re missing after the jump.

It has been announced that the CG-animated movie take on Osamu Tezuka’s Astroboy will be released on October 23, 2009.
I’m reserving my thoughts on this matter, but it’s safe to say that this could definitely fare better than that other movie we love to hate, being CG and not trying to do a live-action of it.
There have been no concept arts and photos released yet, so maybe I can reserve my judgement until then?
Astroboy is directed by David Boyers and stars the voices of Freddie Highmore, Nicholas Cage, Kristin Bell, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane and more. The film is produced by Imagi Studios and will be released by Summit Entertainment.

Mega Man 9, also known as Rockman 9: The Ambition’s Revival! (Rokkuman Nain Yab? no Fukkatsu!) is slated to be released September 22 in North America. It will be the first Mega Man title to get a number designation since Mega Man 8 way back 1996.
As far as the story goes, Dr. Light (Mega Man’s creator) is blamed for a robotic rampage with which Dr. Wily supposedly doesn’t have anything to do. However, since this is a Mega Man series, when was Dr. Wily ever innocent? Curious though, who plays Mega Man purely for the plotlines?
Originally slated only for the Nintendo Wii, versions for the PS3 and XBox 360 will also be available a few days after. Oh I’m sure pirated copies are sure to be leaked in the Intarwebs in a few hours making the NA-only.

Unlike many teen stars all over the world who drop out of high school and wallow in the pool of their own idiocy and talent fees, J-dorama star and Johnny’s Entertainment boytoy Tomohisa Yamashita (Yamapi for fans) took the admirable route of entering school to finish a college degree.
Hats off to him as he has finally graduated from Meiji University’s School of Commerce. He started out in 2004 and finally finished in time for the graduation ceremony this September.
For a guy whose expressionless face? with acting talent that can be summarized by mouth twitches, I guess he’s done all right. But I’m sure that Yamapi fans (paging Furori and genkichelli) would disagree, a college degree just made? him one even hotter piece of Japanese man-flesh.

Universal Music Group has just recently released as few details. Aside from their profit numbers (which no one except stockholders and finance geeks are concerned about), they also announced that Utada Hikaru’s upcoming English-language album will be arriving soon – sometime in the end half of the fiscal year (October 1-March 31).
UMG plans a strong release schedule for the second half of 2008 with new albums from Black Eyed Peas, Pussycat Dolls, Paulina Rubio, Akon, The Killers, Bon Jovi, Keane, Fall Out Boy, Ne-Yo, Tokio Hotel, Hikaru Utada, Mylène Farmer and Florent Pagny.

Another seasonal feature here on Sugoi Stuff would be Okashii News – newsbits that are funny-odd (okashii meaning strange, amusing, funny). This might not be funny to you but some members of Team Sugoi are just plain choco-fiends, with our latest contributor, GenkiChelli, a choco dealer as well.
The lot of them have been trying to convince me that chocolates will cure my depression claiming the age-old argument that chocolates boost happy chemicals. Well, whoever claims that chocolate is better than sex is a damned virgin.
Happy chemicals? Well I guess unless it’d be these chocolates, I wouldn’t readily bet on happy chems just yet. This sweets shop owner just laced his goods with hallucinogenic ’shrooms and marijuana.
Unfortunately for the shop owner, he was nabbed trying to sell these goodies.
Police said, “In the shop we found 120 pieces of magic mushroom chocolate and countless cannabis lollipops.” They also found jars of laced honey.
Well, he should’ve moved to Amsterdam before trying this stunt.

To me, Iron Man is the best superhero movie ever. Well, that is because I consider The Dark Knight as a crime drama who happened to feature a guy in a cape. Anyway, Iron Man. It was pretty obvious that it will have a sequel with hints of War Machine and Mandarin shown in the first movie. And yes, fans, we have confirmation that these two will be in the next movie.
In a press fest for the upcoming Iron Man DVD, director Jon Favreau revealed a few details regarding the sequel. First, he’s intent on finally unleashing the War Machine character (Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes played by Terrence Howard). Second, he’s still struggling to envision the Mandarin character but he will undoubtedly use the Mandarin as the sequel’s villain. Third, the storyline might get influenced by the Invincible Iron Man arc penned by Matt Fraction.
And if you are fearing that Robert Downey Jr. won’t have any leeway to add some of his creative pizazz to the mix, he is currently working with Favreau and Justin Theroux (the script writer) on the early scripts.
The follow-up is set to be shown in April 2010.

Last Saturday, yaoi fans flocked to the UP Ikeda Hall/Balay Kalinaw for the annual convention organized by Lights Out ML. I have always planned to go this? event and since Kyam can’t cover this event, I (more than) willingly went in her place and wrote this article.
