More Transformers posters are now available online. While it builds up the hype, it also gives a good glimpse of the details we can expect from the movie. And I say, from the trailers and the posters that they’re sugoi.

Optimus PrimeMegatronBumblebee

If you expect little Bumblebee looking like a horny yellow bastard like he did in the old cartoon, you might get a bit disappointed. He really looks like a mechanical insect in this one. And Megatron really looks evil with all the jagged teeth, glowing eyes, and mangled visage.

The Punisher

Look who recently dropped out of the Punisher role. In an e-mail from the man himself, Thomas Jane shares this sentiments:

I regretfully and painfully had to pull out of P2. I can’t tell you how completely broken up I am about it. Punisher fans are already fighting an uphill battle as it is. And I’ve always felt a responsibility to fight that fight for them and with them so that Frank Castle gets the treatment he deserves.

Now I applaud Thomas Jane’s decision. See here, boys and girls, that Mr. Jane’s a fan of the comics too and wants the films to do the Punisher, especially for the second run, some justice.

For starters, the Punisher movies sucked. The first one starred Dolph Lundgren and needless to say, it sucked. As for the second incarnation, it was okay at best. Jane gave a respectable performance for a very uncreative take. At least he had a so-so villain in John Travolta (whom I’d rather see in a reprisal of his Chili Palmer roles). Come on, Frank Castle has got to be the one of the toughest snnuvab*tches in the Marvel universe and so far, he looked like a pansy.

This is delicious!

By Kyameel on April 5, 2007

For anyone who has watched 300 and enjoyed it like Team Sugoi, we all know it’s not for the easily “affected”.

So I share the PG version. Enjoy ;)

Ang Pinoy magaling manggaya! [Filipinos are great imitators.]

But even with that statement, we don’t feel threatened. I mean, after four centuries of colonization, some influence from other cultures have definitely rubbed off. And we don’t just imitate. We own! Take the jeepney for example. That’s a US Army jeep that we made into our own funky transport system. Same goes with our telenovelas, teleseryes and telefantaseryes.

With regard to Japan pop culture, we’re still guilty of some. Take Super Twins, for example. Tsk. Tell me it’s not Sailormoon.

Up yours, Spartan

Spartan Government Warning: Spoilers may be dangerous to your knees. Walang luluhod. Nakamamatay.

300

Mixed reviews. Rants. Raves. “They’re gay!” comments. Asinine takes. Scholarly takes. Blabber all you want, I loved 300. But don’t expect a lengthy review with this one. Just some things I’d like to say about the film.

Something queer

By Flori on March 16, 2007

Sorry about the title. I mean no offense to homosexuals out there.

Anyway, the UP Film Institute presents a one-time-only screening of “Pantasya,” a five-episode digital feature that deals with gay fantasies involving “men in uniform” from international award-winning director Brillante Mendoza, on March 20 (Tuesday) at 7 p.m.

Oh my… shounen ai to the max!

Nestor Torre of the Philippine Daily Inquirer has a very interesting article called, “Wanted: More creative and evocative movie titles … please.”

Come to think of it, the list of Pinoy movies has been deluged with titles such as:

Iputok Mo… Dadapa Ako (1990)
Kapag Ang Palay Naging Bigas… May Bumayo (2002)
Romeo Loves Juliet… But Their Families Hate Each Other! (1989)

And don’t forget those Carlo J. Caparas masscare movie titles. I mean, he has his moments but sometimes the titles are just too… out there. Hmm…

I cringe.
