International Anime Fair

By Flori on March 17, 2007

Pinoy anime freaks will freak out when they find out that there will be an international anime fair from the 22nd til the 25th of March (from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.).

Unfortunately, the biggest otaku convention ever will be held in Tokyo, specifically the Tokyo Big Sight. If you registered as business visitor via internet (Tokyoanime.jp), you get in free. For mere mortals, tickets cost 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for kids. Hmm… actually it’s more of at least 100,000 pesos (matipid pa yan) including round trip airfare, accommodation and meal expenses, and not to mention the goods you “must” buy.

If you are desperate/fortunate enough and manage to find someone who will fund your obsession, then these are the things you will expect:

anime screenings
DVDs and collectibles
famous “seiyuu” (voice actors) guests
voice workshops
conferences
exhibitions from young talent
a robot-animation exhibition
latest anime-inspired video games
live performances of anime songs by soundtrack artists
industry press conferences
symposiums

Take not – NO COSPLAY! Lack of dressing area and that the organizers are aiming for a more professional and business-like ambiance
are the main reasons for this.

For more info, read The Japan Times Online article, “Full-color business and pleasure” You can also access to view the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2007 website official press releases.

By the way, is anyone interested in funding Team Sugoi? I heard that registration for Press Pass is ongoing.

Any kind soul out there?

Please?

  1. Ne ne ne, Flori-chan. Even if we get funded, I don’t think we’ll make it in time to get our Visas done. And for those who still have no passports (like I do)… It’ll take a wee bit longer.

    Hehehe.

Not unless *certain* strings can be pulled. But then, we’re Team Sugoi. No need for strings.

    Right?
