It’s been a while since the last Star Trek movie. And when you thought you’ll never see another one since a main character died in the last one (*sob*), a prequel is already upon us.

The film will follow James T. Kirk enrolling at Starfleet Academy, his first meeting with Spock, and their battles with Romulans from the future, who are interfering with history. The film is scheduled to be released on May 8, 2009 in North America and the United Kingdom.

Watching the trailer, I found my self anticipating another Star Trek movie. And I really hope this will live to the hype. You can view the new trailer after the jump.
