Sugoi Stuff 2.0

By Sushi Boi on February 11, 2008

Hello thar, matie!

This fact nearly escaped us but Sugoi Stuff is nearly a year old! Yes, people. Sugoi Stuff will be celebrating it’s birthday in a couple of days.

While we’ve registered the domain December two years ago, with the aims of creating a blogzine to cater to everything sugoi, we’ve only gone formally online February of last year, just before Valentine’s Day.

To commemorate our year online, we’re launching Sugoi Stuff 2.0 starting with this swanky new design courtesy of our resident design arm, Under the Pillow. We hope that this makes your reading experience more enjoyable.

We’re also expanding!

Expect daily updates from us with posts catering to anime, manga, J-pop, gaming, gadgets, and all the other great things that we can scrounge. We’ll have and probably a couple of services and promos launched just for you. Not that we’re gearing to be a Web 2.0 company (but why not?) since we’re just doing this for fun but we just love our dear faithful readers, that’s all.

Our team is also growing. We welcome to our team a new contributor in Alvin Ace who will serve as our resident console gaming blogger.

Tuloy ang ligaya!

Sugoi!!!

A big THANK YOU to all of you and most especially to Renji (RSS|CSS) and to Vlad (The Lonely Vampire Chronicles) for taking the Reflective Thinking – Taking the 8th Habit Challenge: The Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007.

We didn’t get to the Top 10 but the mention is more than enough, so THANK YOU!!!

As you may have noticed, posts have been slow in coming. We have both individual and collective reasons for this but please be patient with us as we have no plan of giving up something that is very dear to Team Sugoi.

Oh, and Flori will soon be posting on her take of the Nana Day event, so watch out for that too.

So once again, Team Sugoi wants to thank all of you for dropping by Sugoistuff.net. Sugoi kayong lahat!

The Sugoi Staff greets Flori-chan a sugoi happy birthday. May you have many more to come!

Spartan Government Warning: Age disclosure is dangerous to your knees. Bawal lumuhod: nakamamatay.

300 We will be featuring a series of articles on our Sugoi Day Saturday trip around the metro. Here’s a list of what to expect:

  • Manga Kissa 10 feature
  • Okonomiyaki food trip
  • Comments upon reviews upon more comments on 300 (movie)
  • A top secret special project in the works.

It was a really a Sugoi Day all in all and we’d be featuring more or less blow-by-blow accounts. In the meantime, site editors are all recuperating from weakness from excessive fits of laughter and kabag.

Spartan Government Warning: Kneeling is dangerous to your health.

Psst, oi! As you might have probably seen that for the past few days, we’re just posting and posting Philippines-Japan stuff. Yeah, you may have probably inferred we dig that stuff. Having been bonded together because of a common interest in Japanese pop-culture and its influence to Pinoy culture, Team Sugoi members are actually J-enthusiasts. The site’s name is probably a dead give-away.

So with that little confession, we’d like to announce that we’ll be catering to those who share the common interest in the Japanese culture.

Don’t worry, we’re not neo-colonials who’d shout “Banzai” instead of “Mabuhay,” we love the Philippines, that’s why we will still be focusing on homegrown stuff. We’ll just niche a bit and focus on the interplay of our two cultures.

So still visit the site for the Sugoi Stuff!

Welcome to Sugoi Stuff

Hello, dear reader! Congratulations! You have stumbled upon one of the greatest shows on earth!

Sugoi Stuff is a blogzine that’s all about being living a great life (which is highly subjective, by the way)! Whether you’re some twenty-something yuppie corporate slave in Ortigas, or some pimply-faced teen, or some forty-something kid-at-heart, we’re all glad to have you here!

Sugoi Stuff is a brain child of a group of friends who met way back in college. After some late night huddles over coffee and tea (with witty, raunchy, and crazy conversations to match), we figured, why not share them ideas? Besides, we’ve noticed more than a handful of people from nearby tables eavesdropping while trying to hide a few laughs.

Don’t be surprised if we’ve got a lot to tell. We can pretty much cover anything. We just seem to be a great barkada that seems to have a person for any job – the computer geek, the driver, the navigator, the fashionista, the jerk, the artist(s), the politician, the future lawyer, the future doctor, the teacher/s, the manghuhula, the (wannabe) rockstar/s. Name it!

So enough of the blabber and let’s get on with the party! Sugoi Stuff, We’re Sharing the Great Stuff!
